I'm Learning...

How to make photo collages!

I am trying to make a nice one so that I can order some photo gifts, It's actually a lot harder than you think. I have to find just the right pics of each child and then make sure the colors look alright together, then I have to crop this and edit that and remove red eye or food on the babies chin! Well it's a work in progress. Here's what I have so far.

Rain and haircuts

Well as we all know it has been raining. A lot. Luckily I have kept busy enough to not let it bother me to much. Except yesterday. We spent a few hours in the morning at Megan's house. But my kids were big meanies so we had to leave. So I decided that I would cut skyler's hair at home this time with the clippers. I personally hate using clippers because of the hair mess it leaves behind. But In the benefit of saving some money, I did it. This is how it came out, i mean you cant really mess it up but I do think it is a bit too short.

We also had some fun playing the faces game. It helps teach them there emotions and they look so cute doing it. Here are some pics from that:

And lastly we have doing a lot of coloring/painting etc...

It would be much funner/easier if I wasn't taking crayons and cleaning marker out of Aubries mouth every 5 mins

Meow Meow, Here Kitty Kitty...

We have gotten a kitten ;)

We mostly got it for Madison and to see if being able to nurture him would help calm her down. ( Anyone in sacrament with me this morning, knows she needs calming down!- I'm sorry by the way) Anyway- His name is Kobe and he is about 3 months old. He has got to be the best kitten ever- very textbook- he went right to the litter box and is wonderful with all 3 kids.

Here are 2 pics ------>

Also, tonight we did our FHE.

The lesson was about Prayer. I think it is important that we stick to the basics- and what is more basic ( and important) than prayer? So we had a lovely lesson that I actually got from my old sunday school lesson book. I had to make some adjustments regarding how to start and end the prayer ( which my kids have picked up super fast! They must remember from nursery/primary). We also made Prayer Reminder cards that I got from an old Friend magazine online.

And for the best part- TREAT!

I asked mike what he felt like doing for treat- He does really good participating and helping with our FHE'S.

And his response- " I feel like being a Hymas tonight"

So...
Yum, Yum, Yum!

This is why I love nice, expensive camera's:

Compare these pics from our vacation to the ones I took with my camera and they make mine look like dog poopie :(

Keeping the sabbath day holy:

I have felt in a weird spot regarding keeping the sabbath day holy- it wasn't until a few weeks ago when the missionaries explained exactly what was required to keep it holy. Mike and I always went shopping or ate out on sunday and I really wanted to keep it a special day. So... this sunday after church we had a picnic lunch and went for a little walk by the Kenduskeag(sp?). Even though this might not be the ideal mormon way of keeping the sabbath day holy, I feel really good about it. We spent every minute sunday together as a family and even when we were skipping rocks in the water, I thought of Heavenly father and how thankful I am for my family- even if I have to work harder than others deciding what to do.

After dinner, we had our Family home evening, it went really good, even though I am still pretty new with it. We painted sea shells that we found on our vacation and made " our family in seashells".

For our treat we made brownies, which was everyones favorite part, I understand why its last!

On saturday we...

Went into downtown Bangor and walked around a art/crafts fair they were having, watched 2 outdoor concerts, and got some very overpriced ice cream from the ice cream truck.

We also went to the Maine Discovery Museum- which if you can't say anything good about Bangor, you at least have to agree they have a pretty darn good children's museum.

And just to make sure my day is complete:

Aubrie with something in her mouth she shouldn't have: check

And Madison with her fingers in a dangerous animal's mouth: check

MY DAY IS DONE !!!

As Amy says: You need a vacation from a vacation...

I got back from our CT/NY trip and needed a day to get back into the groove of life. But im back now and feeling good. The trip was great! The weather could of been better and it is always hard to be out of your nice child- proofed house, but over all it was great. Here are a few pics from the trip.

I took the kids to see Mike's mom's grave. They are finally old enough that I could tell them about it and felt they understood.

There is nothing like going to a beach for vacation and it being to cold to go. But I just put some jackets on them and they were good to go.

To get back to CT from NY we took a ferry, the kids loved it and we got to see such a beautiful sunset.

We went to a really cool place in CT called Dinosaur Crossing. There was a lot of interesting history about the dinosaurs there and we also went on trails where the kids had to find clues along the way to get to the hidden dinosaurs.

I have made a mental note: If dinosaurs existed today, Don't let Madison near a t-rex- She is not afraid!
Skyler would rather stay near they nice plant eaters-

We also brought all the kids to see the new disney movie UP in 3D one day when it was raining. I couldnt resist taking this pic of Madi in the 3d glasses. We had to ask some random lady for a rubber band to get them to stay on her head!

There was this amazing park where they had all sorts of climbing activities- I thought this would be a great place to see if Madison really was a monkey...

OKAY- ITS TRUE- SHE IS PART MONKEY
Skyler just being himself liked the smaller and easier climbs

And even Aubrie got to get into it
Family is so fun to be around and so important- it was so nice to see everyone
